Hidden in the Mangroves


Brown anoles (chameleons) were introduced to Florida from Cuba and the Bahamas about 50 years ago and are now found throughout the state. The ones pictured were on mangrove branches on City Island... very still and hiding in plain sight. (Click for better images)

Why do these anoles look ragged and strange? They are in the process of shedding their skins.
